Information Technology

(for the residence halls)

January 2021 Update

UWSP Information Technology notified our office during winter break about an update with UWSPDEVICE Network. This change was put into place to help make the student's network/internet experience better while living on-campus.

UWSPDEVICE is a network for streaming devices, game consoles, Google Home/Mini's, and Amazon Echo/Dot's.

Laptops, tablets, and phones should NOT use this network as it has no access to UWSP resources, and if those devices are on the network it can cause an overload where the system runs out of IP addresses and students can lose the ability to use the UWSPDEVICE Network.

Students who were in the residence halls during fall 2020 had their devices moved over to the new UWSPDEVICE Wireless Network. As such, any devices that worked before winter break should work again without any issues. However, there is a new password to connect and register NEW devices.

UWSP Information Technology has created a webpage for students to access information and a simple form to get those device(s) working properly.

Instructions on how to connect and register devices:

  • Current students who are returning to the residence halls with a "new" device will need to register here

  • Students new to the residence halls will need to register their devices here

For the updated password for UWSPDEVICE, please click here

If students have any questions, please contact UWSP Information Technology at 715-346-HELP (4357) or itsvdesk@uwsp.edu
