Model European Union Club
Housed in the Political Science Department, UWSP's Model European Union (EU) Club is an inclusive student organization with a purpose of promoting academic awareness of international affairs with emphasis on the functions and goals of the EU.
The Model EU Club provides students with an opportunity to learn valuable research skills while attaining an awareness of European politics, culture, and diplomacy. Club members get to practice their networking and public speaking skills and put their research to use while surrounded by a professional environment.
If you would like to join UWSP's Model EU Club as a member, please complete the membership application form here. Membership applications for the upcoming academic year are accepted between February 15 and April 15.
The Model EU is a simulation of a European Council Summit, bringing together undergraduate students from across the United States. There are only a few institutions in North America organizing a Model EU Simulation every year on a regular basis.
Thanks to generous support from UWSP's Student Government Association, members of the Model EU Student Organization represent UWSP at one of those events every spring. In preparation for and during the conference, students develop and fine-tune their research, writing, public speaking, and negotiation skills while gaining an in-depth understanding of international relations at the European level. The conference provides participants with a framework to represent a member country of the EU and take that country's position on a substantive set of issues as either the Foreign Minister or the Head of State/Government.
Since 2017, the Model EU Club has participated in the West Coast Model EU organized by the University of Washington in Seattle, WA.
