Arriving on time ensures you can fully\u00a0participate\u00a0in orientation and begin your academic journey smoothly.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div><\/details>\n\n\n\n<details class=\"wp-block-create-block-uwsp-accordion-section\"><summary class=\"accordion-heading\">BOOKING YOUR FLIGHT<\/summary><div class=\"accordion-content\">\n<p>We&nbsp;<strong>strongly recommend<\/strong>&nbsp;booking your flight all the way to&nbsp;<strong>Central Wisconsin Airport (CWA)<\/strong>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>CWA is a regional airport, which means\u00a0you\u2019ll\u00a0connect through at least one larger U.S. airport\u00a0on your way here.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>If you fly into CWA, a member of the\u00a0<strong>Office of International Education (OIE)<\/strong>\u00a0team will meet you at the airport and provide\u00a0<strong>free transportation<\/strong>\u00a0to your residence hall.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Most flights arrive in the late afternoon or evening\u2014but\u00a0don\u2019t\u00a0worry!\u00a0Late\u2011night\u00a0CWA pickups are a proud UWSP tradition.\u00a0\ud83d\ude0a\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>If you choose to fly to a different airport, you will&nbsp;be responsible for&nbsp;making your own way to campus. Please note:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Ground transportation options are\u00a0<strong>limited, slow, and often expensive<\/strong>.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Arriving elsewhere might\u00a0make sense if friends or family can drive you to campus.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>For most students, flying directly to CWA is simply the easiest (and least stressful)\u00a0option.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div><\/details>\n\n\n\n<details class=\"wp-block-create-block-uwsp-accordion-section\"><summary class=\"accordion-heading\">WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU ARRIVE?<\/summary><div class=\"accordion-content\">\n<p>If you arrive at CWA:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>An OIE team member will meet you at the airport and help you\u00a0locate\u00a0your luggage.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>They\u2019ll\u00a0then drive you to campus (about\u00a0<strong>30 km\u00a0\/ 20 minutes<\/strong>).\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Once on campus,\u00a0they\u2019ll\u00a0help you find your residence hall and room.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>If&nbsp;you&nbsp;arrive by ground transportation:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Those&nbsp;arriving by car, bus, or other ground transportation should notify the Office of International Education of their arrival&nbsp;plans&nbsp;<strong>in advance<\/strong>. A member of the OIE team will meet you on campus at your designated arrival location.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Arrival Dates:<\/strong>\u00a0Your arrival on campus must occur on or before the final arrival date\u00a0indicated\u00a0in your UWSP admission letter.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Upon Arrival:<\/strong>\u00a0An OIE staff member will greet you on campus and\u00a0assist\u00a0you with\u00a0locating\u00a0your residence hall and room.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Upon arrival, you&nbsp;will&nbsp;have the&nbsp;option&nbsp;to&nbsp;purchase&nbsp;an&nbsp;<strong>OIE Bed Kit<\/strong>, which includes:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>A blanket\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Pillow\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Sheet set\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Bath and face towels\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>A temporary SIM\/eSIM\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Your room will have&nbsp;campus\u2011wide&nbsp;<strong>free&nbsp;Wi<\/strong>\u2011<strong>Fi<\/strong>, accessible using your UWSP login\u2014no password puzzles&nbsp;required.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div><\/details>\n\n\n\n<details class=\"wp-block-create-block-uwsp-accordion-section\"><summary class=\"accordion-heading\">INTERNATIONAL STUDENT ORIENTATION<\/summary><div class=\"accordion-content\">\n<p>International Student Orientation is a&nbsp;<strong>multi<\/strong>\u2011<strong>day&nbsp;program<\/strong>&nbsp;designed to help you feel confident and comfortable as you begin life at UWSP.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>What to expect:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Orientation usually starts with a\u00a0<strong>group breakfast<\/strong>\u00a0(yes, food is involved right away\u00a0\u2615\ud83e\udd50).\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Orientation\u00a0sessions focus on topics that are essential to your transition\u2014academic life, immigration requirements, and being a successful Pointer.\u00a0We also discuss medical care, medical insurance, and banking.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Orientation programming typically ends around midday, and\u00a0<strong>lunch is provided<\/strong>.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Afternoons and evenings are free\u00a0for exploring\u00a0campus and the community with your new classmates.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Because orientation includes required immigration and university compliance information,&nbsp;<strong>attendance is mandatory<\/strong>.&nbsp;Students who arrive late or do not attend orientation will be&nbsp;<strong>disenrolled<\/strong>, and their admission will be canceled. We really&nbsp;don\u2019t&nbsp;want that to happen\u2014so please plan carefully!&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">loved ones are welcome!<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Family members and loved ones are welcome to attend orientation programs. A couple of helpful notes:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol start=\"1\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>On<\/strong>\u2011<strong>campus\u00a0lodging is not available for guests.<\/strong>\u00a0We\u2019re\u00a0happy to share information about local hotels that offer\u00a0discounts for\u00a0UWSP-affiliated guests.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<ol start=\"2\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Please let\u00a0<strong>Dr. Van Den\u00a0Elzen<\/strong>\u00a0know\u00a0if your loved ones will attend orientation. We finish orientation in time for you to&nbsp;participate&nbsp;fully in&nbsp;<strong>Campus Welcome Activities<\/strong>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We strongly encourage you to attend&nbsp;<strong>all<\/strong>&nbsp;new student programming.
