UWSP NADF supports aquaculture in the classroom for not only a hands-on STEM educational tool, but also to promote career pathways, opportunities and workforce development at an early age. Aquaculture is the fastest growing segment of agriculture globally, and one of the major bottlenecks to the sustainable advancement of the industry in the United States, is having a skilled and experienced workforce. Aquaculture can be an amazing career opportunity for students passionate about biology, chemistry or related fields, therefore educating students early can provide an important pathway towards a successful and fulfilling career.

EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES
Part of our mission at UWSP NADF is to promote workforce development and aquaculture education at all levels. We partner with various schools across Wisconsin to promote aquaculture learning in the classroom. Activities may include the following.
FISH DONATIONS
The facility offers feed trained fingerlings, such as walleye, to schools or other educational facilities to for raising in the classroom
INTERACTIVE TOURS
The facility provides interactive tours for all ages and can format the experience to suit the groups needs. We can also provide virtual tours of the facility.
CLASSROOM VISITS
To assist in technology transfer and provide technical assistance, we can provide classroom visits to help teach a lesson in aquaculture, facilitate a hands-on activity or provide technical assistance for aquaculture systems.
PUBLIC EVENTS
The facility attends and organizes a variety of local educational events and workshops such as Kids Fishing Day, Science Fest, Science on Tap and more.
