The UWSP NADF offers summer internships, apprenticeships and technician positions. These opportunities are dependent on project funding from state and federal grants. The summer internships are generally offered each year and are available to all undergraduate students. Although UW-Stevens Point students are given priority, any undergraduate interested in aquaculture is encouraged to apply.

a unique opportunity

Students learn best management practices and techniques to raise a variety of cold and cool water species that can include Atlantic salmon, Arctic char, lake trout, walleye, lake sturgeon, yellow perch and more. The facility has experience raising over 15 different species of freshwater finfish and has multiple species on site for research, education, and demonstration. Furthermore, the facility trains students on number of culture systems including incubation and larval systems, ponds, raceways (flow-through), and semi-commercial recirculating aquaculture systems (RAS).

In addition, UWSP NADF partners with various public and private organizations through research and demonstration, thus connecting students directly with their future employers. Due to this experience and skill set gained, the facility has nearly 100% job placement rating for students continuing their careers in aquaculture.
