Students attending the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point at Wausau will see an increase in scholarship opportunities with the merger between the UW Wausau Campus Foundation and the UWSP Foundation fundraising organizations.
“This represents a new collaborative vision for the future of our Wausau foundation,” said Brad Zweck, executive director of the UW Wausau Campus Foundation. “We envision a significant range of educational benefits and efficiencies, including enhanced fundraising capabilities.”
Moving forward, this merger will enhance the Wausau community’s educational experience, said Lada Xiong-Vang, UW Wausau Campus Foundation Board past president. “This strong partnership will only cast a wider net to reach more students, improve their experience, and continue to show value for our local community and business economy, adding value to all.”
“A cooperative agreement has been discussed and negotiated for more than three years, with input from UWSP Wausau donors and board members and the greater Wausau community,” said William Broussard, CEO of the UWSP Foundation. “This collaborative effort offers a path forward that commits to the UW Wausau Campus Foundation’s longstanding mission, stewards its resources and administers support efficiently while involving invested board members in the process.”
A new joint organization will be formed to manage the UWSP at Wausau campus assets, comprised of executive committee members of the UWSP Foundation and Patrick Bradley, Keith Koszarek and Bob Reinertson, three members of the UW Wausau Campus Foundation who are prominent in the community. Wausau Campus Executive Miranda Gentry-Siegel will serve as an ex-officio member.
While UWSP has coordinated the disbursement of student scholarships since UWSP at Wausau formed in 2018, through this merger with the UWSP Foundation, the application and awarding process will be more actively managed, yielding a higher rate of scholarship awards. Members of a Wausau-based Faculty Scholarship Committee will continue to choose recipients of UWSP Wausau scholarships based on donor intent.
Restricted/endowed funds of the UW Wausau Campus Foundation were transferred to the UWSP Foundation. A few other funds, including Wausau unrestricted assets, were transferred to the Community Foundation of North Central Wisconsin. Plans for those Wausau-based assets to support local students will be announced at a later date.
The UWSP Foundation will also make additional contributions to UWSP at Wausau student scholarships annually and current and new donors may continue to support Wausau campus students through the UWSP Foundation. The Wausau funds transferred to the UWSP Foundation will be managed by the Wisconsin Investment Management Company (WISIMCO), which also manages endowments of UW-Madison and UWSP.
“I’m excited that UWSP at Wausau students will see an increase in available scholarships,” said UWSP at Wausau Campus Executive Miranda Gentry-Siegel. “With this merger, our students will now be able to apply for scholarships through the UWSP Scholarship Portal.”

We hope everyone in the Wausau area can come together to maximize the incentive for UWSP and the UWSP Foundation to invest in our community for years to come.”
The UWSP Foundation awarded more than $1.88 million in scholarships to more than 1,400 UWSP students in 2025, including students at UWSP Marshfield, who merged their foundation assets with the UWSP Foundation in 2024. Direct outreach to Wausau campus donors is coming soon regarding their named scholarship funds and expanded options to support students at UWSP at Wausau.
