The International Symposium on Animal Mortality Management (ISAMM) is set to bring global experts to Stevens Point June 29- July 2, in collaboration with the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point College of Natural Resources and the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection.
ISAMM takes place every three years and aimsto advance best practices for managing animal mortalities. The Symposium will take place at the Holiday Inn Stevens Point Conference Center in Stevens Point, Wis. and includes plenary sessions, technical presentations and networking opportunities, as well as guided tours across central Wisconsin highlighting regional facilities and practices.
A dedicated demonstration day will be hosted at the Food + Farm Exploration Center on Wednesday July 1 at 1 p.m., offering hands-on learning and demonstrations including a wildlife scavenger hunt, animal composting demonstrations, soil pit descriptions, animal trapping equipment demonstrations, access to the Food + Farm Exploration Center science center and field tours. Members of the public can attend the demonstration day with paid general admission to the Food + Farm Exploration Center.
Randy Romanski, Secretary of the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection, will be addressing attendees and Dr. Alan Huddleston, U.S. Chief Veterinary Officer, will be a keynote speaker.
Established in 2005, the symposium has grown into an international forum for research, policy and real-world application. Participants represent a variety of institutions and sectors including government, academic, research, veterinary medicine, public health and more. Together, they address challenges ranging from routine mortality management to large-scale emergency response following disease outbreaks or natural disasters.
