The University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point met and surpassed the largest challenge gift in its history as part of the 10th anniversary of the Days of Giving (D.O.G.) from April 2-May 5.
An opportunity for alumni and friends of the university to give back to UWSP through 15 highlighted programs, the Days of Giving support the next generation of Pointers through scholarships and program support.
This year, an anonymous donor provided a $100,000 unlock challenge, the largest ever. Thanks to the generosity of the Pointer family and generous donors, this year the D.O.G. set records in number of gifts received, with more than 415 from alumni and friends, as well as total dollars raised at $283,939.
In addition, business sponsors from throughout the community ran Days of Giving specials, shared social posts and supported UWSP by giving back percentages of sales on different products and services. Nordic Night Sauna, BoBabes Bubble Tea, International Ink, Guild Designs LLC, Emy J’s CoffeeHouse and Lily & Vine Floral and Gifts all took part in supporting the campaign. “The impact that the D.O.G. has had on the UWSP campus is inspiring,” said William Broussard, vice chancellor for University Advancement and CEO of the UWSP Foundation “Since the Days of Giving started a decade ago in 2016, hundreds of donors have given more than 2,000 gifts totaling more than $1.1 million dollars. By providing scholarships and bolstering programs, the D.O.G. removes barriers to academic success for thousands of UWSP students.”
