FREE FISH HEALTH WORKSHOP FOR FISH FARMERS

Due to a grant funded project by the North Central Region Aquaculture Center (NCRAC), six FREE hands-on fish health workshops focused on prevention, detection, and assessment of fish diseases, and biosecurity practices are being offered from 2025-2027 in Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Michigan, Wisconsin/Minnesota, and Missouri. The workshops will be delivered in a one-day session (6 hours).
Workshop topics will include:
- Fish necropsy
- Fish health assessment
- Basic microscope work
- Water quality and prevention
- Connecting with broader fish health infrastructure
- Collecting and sending disease fish for laboratory diagnosis
- Capturing images for disease identification
TENTATIVE WORKSHOP AGENDA
Note: Agenda may be adjusted based on attendee discussion and priority topics.
Objectives
- Provide practical training on fish diseases, and diagnostic practices.
- Fish disease prevention: water quality, feed and feed management, biosecurity.
- Networking farmers with fish health infrastructure

Space will be limited to approximately 15 people, selected on a first-come, first-served basis, with priority to fish farmers operating in the selected state.
WISCONSIN WORKSHOP
The Wisconsin workshop will be held on March 12th, 2026, at Hotel Marshfield, 2700 S Central Ave, Marshfield, WI. This workshop is in collaboration with the annual Wisconsin Aquaculture Conference on March 13-14th (requires separate registration).
