UWSP Flute Studio
The University of
Wisconsin - Stevens Point Flute Studio is comprised of undergraduate flute
performance majors, music education majors, music minors, and non-majors.
Degrees are offered in Bachelor of Music in Performance, Bachelor of Music in
Education, Bachelor of Arts in Music, Master of Music Performance in Pedagogy,
and the Performance Certificate Program.
Flute studio meets
weekly and focuses on performance, technique, and important topics of flute
playing and pedagogy. Students additionally have weekly lessons with Dr.
Schwab, where solo, orchestral, and chamber music literature are studied. The
UWSP Flute Ensemble provides a fun and creative opportunity to explore ensemble
playing and flute choir repertoire, and to participate in performances on campus,
in the community, and regionally at flute festivals. Members of the flute
studio perform frequently as soloists, in chamber groups, and in the numerous
large ensembles that UWSP offers.
The Flute Studio
frequently hosts world-class flutists as guest artists and teachers. Most
recently, such performers include Jim Walker, Ronu Majumdar, and Chris Norman.
The vibrant performing arts community of the University of Wisconsin - Stevens
Point provides a continuously enriching outlet for students to interact with a
wide variety of inspiring performers and educators. The Flute Studio is
talented, supportive, motivated, and passionate about flute performance and
education in Wisconsin, and beyond.
