2020 High School Wind Band Invitational

The University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point Wind Band Festival will be held on campus at the Noel Fine Arts Center. This one-day, non-competitive, events offers an experience for high school concert band students and conductors to enhance their growth as ensemble musicians. Each participating concert band will experience an environment of mutual respect and all are offered the opportunity to enjoy performances from other concert ensembles throughout the day. Eight high school bands will participate and a performance by the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point Symphonic Wind Ensemble will be featured. 

Each high school concert band is given 100 minutes to work with two clinicians, Dr. Russel C. Mikkelson and Dr. Michael Butler. Repertoire is selected by the conductors. An additional score for each piece is required. Additionally, each ensemble will receive 50 minute instrument masterclasses by UWSP studio faculty. 

UWSP Clinicians: Dr. Michael S. Butler, Director of Bands 

Guest Clinician: Dr. Russel C. Mikkelson

 Participation fee is $400 per ensemble. 

Registration Form

Concert bands will be admitted on a first-come, first-served basis. Please complete the online registration form and send checks payable to the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point Music Department to the address below. Invoices will be provided to each school as needed. We will update the conductors of admittance and will update this website when registration is full.

Ensemble Diagram, Equipment, and Dining

After you receive confirmation of your registration, please email an ensemble diagram to mbutler@uwsp.edu and complete the equipment form. This form will allow you to indicate how much equipment is needed. There are dining options available on campus in the Dreyfus University Center.
