Bio
Rachel Snyder Turney is a passionate and enthusiastic teacher dedicated to helping her students develop musicality at every level of study. She has maintained a thriving private studio for more than 20 years.
Rachel taught class piano for Penn State University and directed their piano preparatory program, a collaboration providing hands-on teacher training to pedagogy masters students. In addition, Rachel served as executive director of the Music Arts School, a community music school in Highland Park, IL, where she and her faculty served over 300 students through applied and group instruction, chamber music, and community outreach programs.
Rachel completed a Master of Music degree in piano performance and pedagogy at Penn State University, a Bachelor of Music degree in piano performance at the University of Nebraska – Lincoln, and Suzuki teacher training at the Music Institute of Chicago. She has written for Keyboard Companion and American Music Teacher magazines, has presented at national pedagogy conferences, and is a member of Music Teachers National Association and Pi Kappa Lambda Honor Society. She is an active adjudicator and collaborative pianist.
Rachel enjoys spending time with her husband, Brent, and their three children. They love making music as a family and learning together.
