Brian Ellingboe

Bio

Brian Ellingboe maintains an active teaching studio in Madison and is the bassoon coach for WYSO (Wisconsin Youth Symphony Orchestras). Before moving to Madison to pursue his DMA he was previously bassoon faculty at Willamette University in Salem, Oregon.  He has studied with Marc Vallon, Steve Vacchi and Judith Bedford.

Active as an orchestral player, Brian is starting his 7th season as principal bassoon of the Sheboygan Symphony and 8th season as assistant principal and second bassoon in the Beloit Janesville Symphony. Previously in Oregon, he played with the Salem Chamber Orchestra, the Corvallis Symphony Orchestra, the Eugene Symphony Orchestra and the Oregon Mozart Players.

Community

  • Chamber musician performing frequently with Con Vivo as a member of the woodwind quintet.
  • Performs Baroque bassoon with Just Bach and the Lyra Baroque Orchestra.
  • Playing in theater pit orchestras (where he gets to dust off his old saxophones and clarinets) with Madison Savoyard Players, Capitol City Theater and Four Seasons Theater.
