SharePoint 2010 to 2013 Upgrade

8/4/2016 9:09 AM

Starting at 9 p.m. Thursday August 4, and continuing until noon Friday, campus web servers WWW, STUORGS and LIBRARY are being updated.

During this time, the servers may be online in a "Read-Only" mode, but they may be turned off at any time. It will not be possible to edit any sites, submit forms, etc. on those web sites during that time period. Information Technology advises that the web servers WWW, STUORGS, CAMPUS and COMMITTEES may be shut off at any time while these upgrades are being completed.

Update to Campus Web Servers

7/11/2016 11:12 AM

In early August the SharePoint 2010 software on the WWW, STUORGS, SEARCH, and LIBRARY webservers will be updated to SharePoint 2013. Updates will be done so that the legacy software will not impede future web and interactive software developments in the future. Updates to the software are NOT being done to change the appearance and operation of campus web sites, nor to add new functionality to the web servers.

In-depth notes about the upgrades will be posted in the future, but here are some quick important notes for campus:

  • Primary campus websites (WWW, CAMPUS, STUORGS, SEARCH, COMMITTEES and LIBRARY) will be offline during the server updates. The offline period will be from 9 pm of one business day until noon the following business day.
  • Appearance of public-facing websites will be relatively unchanged.
  • Web weavers will see a significantly changed interface when they do their work. Information Technology will at first distribute some "cheat sheets" to familiarize web weavers with changes to common tasks. Training sessions will also be planned for web weavers.

The websites CAMPUS and COMMITTEES will get updated at a later point, probably well into the 2016-2017 school year.

Site Navigation Update

7/23/2015 11:08 AM

This summer we will be individually updating all sites with new code for the left side site navigation.  Improvements include better HTML structure for SEO, CSS3 animations, and highlighting of the page you're on. If you have any custom colors in your navigation they will be applied to the new navigation.

Font list update

6/16/2015 10:49 PM
Several font choices have been removed from the Format Text ribbon menu for all www sites. The fonts that were removed were not compliant with the style guidelines set up in the Communications Standards Manual.
