UWSP Email setup for Microsoft Outlook App on Android Devices
Office 365 free to all students, faculty and staff. Along with the software bundled with Office 365, students, faculty and staff can use the Microsoft Outlook App on Android Devices.
Information Technology recommends using the Outlook App with all UWSP.EDU email accounts. The app is easy to setup and integrates well with other products used at UWSP. If you use the Nougat version of Android (i.e., version 7), the Android stock email app will not support email accounts housed in our cloud email service provider.
Installation and Configuration:
Download and install the Microsoft Outlook app from either the Google
Play Store’s website or from the Play Store’s mobile app.
Open the app after installation.
During first use, the app will prompt you to enter a work or personal email. Enter your UWSP email address. Be sure to include the “@uwsp.edu” portion. Enter your password when prompted and then tap “continue.”
Note: In some cases, the account type may not be detected. If you are prompted for an account type, like in the image below, select “Office 365.”
Note: If this is the first Office 365 app installed on your device, the Office 365 Sign in portal will open. Enter your email account and password and click the button labeled “Sign in.”
If this is your first time using the Outlook App, tap Get Started. Otherwise, go to Settings by tapping the gear icon in the upper right-hand corner of the screen. Next, tap Add Account and then tap Add Email Account.
Enter your full email address and tap Continue.
If Outlook requests permissions to access your calendar, contacts or other resources, press “Allow.”
Note: The newer versions of Outlook have a
focused inbox feature that tries to present what emails Outlook thinks are of most importance to you. Some users prefer to turn this feature off by going into Settings (use the gear icon found in the upper right-hand corner of the Outlook app) and sliding the “Focused Inbox” switch to the left so it is grayed out.
