Residence Hall Distribution Lists
There are two types of residence hall lists by residence hall and by
residence hall floor. Residence Hall distribution lists addresses a
message to all students that live in a residence hall. Residence Hall By
Floor distribution lists contain the addresses for all students that live in
each residence hall by floor.
Who Can Use the Lists
No one can can see the membership of the
lists to ensure student privacy. A distribution list will deliver messages sent
by anyone that Residential Living has pre-approved. You must send an email request to Residential LIving List - Resource Admins to be added to the
approved senders list.
Note: Messages will be rejected if sent from an off-campus internet address
or unauthorized UWSP account.
Naming Conventions for Resident Living Distribution Lists
A distribution list name consists of the letters "hous-" followed by the name
of the residence hall (examples provided in the table below).

Naming Conventions for Residence Hall By Floor Distribution Lists
Residence hall by floor distribution list names consists of the letters "hous-" followed by the name
of the residence hall followed by " - Floor " and the floor number (examples provided in the table below).

||hous-Burroughs Hall - Floor 1
Send a Message to a Residential Living Distribution List
If you are using UWSP's Exchange/Outlook client, choose the "residence hall"
name from the global address list.
- Create a new message
- Click the "To:" button and the "Select Names" dialog box will be
- Click the arrow key in the Address Book drop down and select the
appropriate residence hall address list. Alternatively, you can begin to
type the name of the residence hall distribution list in the "Search:" box
and the system will attempt to find the closest match to what you are
- In the address display box that appears, select the residence hall you
want to send a message to.
- Press the "To ->" button.
If you do not have access to the UWSP address book from the mail system you
are using, you are using address a message following the format shown in the
Internet Address column in the table below.

Availability & Accuracy
All distribution lists are automatically available in Microsoft Outlook. The
lists are updated nightly throughout the semester from data supplied by
the Office of the Registrar.
