The volunteer situation must support the UW-Stevens Point mission.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>An individual does not need to be considered a volunteer when the individual is actively working and being paid as a UWSP Faculty\/Staff or Student Employee, enrolled student, and\/or contracted for payment or partnership via Financial Operations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">UWSP Departments and\/or Event Managers &#8211; Expectations for working with or hosting volunteer positions<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>If you are hosting events, camps, clinics, and the like at UWSP, you must\u200b\u200b register your activity at&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/uwsp.bplogix.net\/form.aspx?pid=437e63f1-d262-48a8-9537-504eb3d5ceb2&amp;formid=46c5a9e0-4d4c-4d8b-bdcc-a5af2ddec699\">Event Request<\/a>\u200b.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u200bStudent Organizations seeking to arrange volunteers must have Advisor and&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www3.uwsp.edu\/centers\/CASE\/pages\/default.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">CASE<\/a>&nbsp;approval.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Events or activities with volunteers must gain approval and you have to complete all necessary steps. UWSP departments and organizations should review all the<a href=\"https:\/\/uwspedu.sharepoint.com\/:u:\/r\/sites\/HRResources\/SitePages\/Volunteers.aspx?csf=1&amp;web=1&amp;e=WHdN52\"> information regarding working with and managing volunteers <\/a>at your event. Log in is required.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Basic things a Volunteer should know<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Volunteers must be registered. That is done through the group or department sponsoring the event.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Volunteer positions are not compensible. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Volunteers should expect to receive training, orientation and safety training by the authorizing department upon accepting a position.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Volunteers should have a weekly or daily check in with a supervisor.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Volunteers are expected to comply with all applicable UWS and UWSP policies related to conduct, compliance, and safety.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Volunteers who are minors will have to completed additional steps. If the volunteer is a minor, additional steps will be required. Steps include, but are not limited to parent\/guardian permissions, background checks for those entrusted with the minor\u2019s care (contact us for guidance), work limitations (no hazardous work allowed), etc. Tasks a minor is allowed to do is limited.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Volunteers may be asked to have criminal background check depending on the nature of your work especially if you are working with minors or youth programs, or with money or finances.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Volunteers are generally&nbsp;not covered by worker\u2019s compensation or&nbsp;any other UWSP accident, health, or disability program.&nbsp;Therefore, it is important for all volunteers to have their own personal insurance in effect while volunteering at UW-Stevens Point.\u200b\u200b No property insurance is provided by UWSP\/State to volunteer\u2019s personal property.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Volunteering For Third Party Events or Non UWSP Mission Related Events<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Individuals volunteering for activities not related to the campus mission or those not specifically under UWSP control but still associated with campus shall complete a <strong>program waiver <\/strong>instead of the written volunteer request and&nbsp;agreement.
