Executive Order #54: Mandated Reporting for Child Abuse and Neglect

Effective December 19, 2011, Executive Order #54 requires individuals whose employment brings them in contact with children to report any suspected abuse or neglect. As university staff, administrators and faculty, we are required to report any suspected maltreatment regarding the child's health, safety, and welfare. Individuals making reports in good faith are immune from criminal and/or civil liability. If an individual intentionally fails to report suspected child abuse or neglect they may be fined up to $1,000, imprisoned up to 6 months, or both.
When in doubt ask your supervisor, Human Resources and Affirmative Action, or place the call to the Portage County Health and Human Services Department.
