Executive Order #54: Mandated Reporting for Child Abuse and Neglect

Effective December 19, 2011, Executive Order #54 requires individuals whose employment brings them in contact with children to report any suspected abuse or neglect. As university staff, administrators and faculty, we are required to report any suspected maltreatment regarding the child's health, safety, and welfare. Individuals making reports in good faith are immune from criminal and/or civil liability. If an individual intentionally fails to report suspected child abuse or neglect they may be fined up to $1,000, imprisoned for up to 6 months, or both.

When in doubt ask your supervisor, Human Resources, or place a call to your local social services agency (see link below).

Reports are kept anonymous and should be directed to the appropriate county's health and human services:

Call 911 if the child is in imminent danger.
