Communication Sciences and Disorders: Declaring Your Major

1. How do I declare communication sciences and disorders major?

Any UWSP student considering changing his/her major to communication sciences and disorders should first carefully read the program requirements under prospective students> program descriptions> undergraduates, on this website. There is also print information outside of the Undergraduate Advising Office: 046 CPS. You may stop by and pick up print information between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Mon- Fri.

If you remain interested in the major after a careful review of the program requirements, contact the Coordinator of Undergraduate Academic Programs Sondra Reynolds at 715-346-4816 or sreynold@uwsp.edu to arrange a meeting.

Bring a current Degree Progress Report to the meeting. At the meeting, you will be provided information about the major, requirements, academic standards, teaching intent, and professional opportunities, as well as have an opportunity to ask questions. You may complete a form to officially declare the Communication Sciences and Disorders major, if you wish to do so after this meeting.

2. When do I declare communication sciences and disorders as a major?

It is best to declare the major as soon as you are able to make an informed decision after learning about program requirements, academic standards, teaching intent, and professional opportunities. Students are encouraged to schedule a meeting to possibly declare the major as early in the semester as possible. Meeting opportunities are quite limited between the 8th and 13th weeks of the semester, as this is when the Coordinator of Undergraduate Academic Programs is advising students currently in the major.

3. Where is the Coordinator of Undergraduate Academic Programs office located?
