Cost of Attendance for Financial Aid Purposes<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Cost is a major consideration when choosing a college. UW-Stevens Point is committed to providing students with an affordable education and investment in their future. We offer a variety of assistance programs to help students and their families help bridge the gap between the cost of attendance and your family’s financial resources. The figures below outline our estimated full-time academic year Cost of Attendance (COA) budgets<\/strong> for financial aid purposes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The below costs\u00a0do not<\/strong>\u00a0represent\u00a0actual costs that will be charged to your university bill but rather are average estimates of costs associated with attending UW-Stevens Point\u00a0for\u00a0the academic\u00a0year used to determine financial aid eligibility.\u00a0\u00a0For one semester’s costs, simply divide by two!\u00a0For actual costs, billing, and information on payment options, please view the<\/strong>\u00a0Student Financial Services web pages.<\/a>\u00a0Actual university bills will be provided\u00a0by the Student Financial Services office typically 1-2 weeks prior to the start of each term.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The COA includes tuition and fees; housing and meals; and allowances for books and supplies, transportation, loan fees, and other miscellaneous personal expenses. These costs are estimated; therefore, we strongly encourage you to plan your own specific budget based on your housing choice and meal plan, transportation needs, etc.\u00a0The figures here are estimates determined before actual university rates have been set, therefore, the actual costs billed to you may be higher or lower than what is presented.\u00a0Should your\u00a0educational\u00a0costs be higher than what is presented below, please contact our\u00a0office for a budget appeal.\u00a0Use this\u00a0Cost Comparison Worksheet<\/a>\u00a0to compare your financial aid offers from different schools. Explanation of Costs<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Direct costs<\/strong> are the charges billed to students by the university. These include tuition and fees, on-campus housing, and meal plans. These are all items you pay directly to UWSP. The costs displayed below are estimated expenses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Indirect costs<\/strong> are costs incurred by you while you attend UWSP, but not paid to UWSP. Indirect costs include books and supplies, transportation, personal expenses, loan fees, and off-campus housing and meals. The costs displayed below are average estimated costs; indirect costs may vary by student.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Total Cost of Attendance (COA)<\/strong> is the direct costs plus indirect costs. The financial aid office estimates indirect costs for items such as supplies, additional books (not covered by text rental, if applicable), personal expenses, and transportation. A student’s financial aid offer will reflect a combination of aid up to the Total Cost of Attendance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
