UW–Stevens Point is thrilled to launch the transformation of Sentry Hall — a project that begins with a complete renovation and reimagining of the Collins Classroom Center. This bold investment will create a state‑of‑the‑art learning environment designed to ignite innovation, elevate student experiences, and empower future graduates to shape the world they’re about to lead.
Project Timeline
2028 – Anticipated project completion.
2026 – Construction began in June.
2025 – The project was enumerated in the 2025-2027 state budget and was approved by the Board of Regents in August 2025.
2023 – The project began the design phase in fall 2023 with Aro Eberle Architects from Madison, Wisconsin.

Project History
The project will add 20,000 square feet to the building and transform the interior into active learning classrooms, collaboration spaces, and student-centered areas. It includes the replacement of all mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire suppression, and heating/cooling systems. The building will also feature a new façade designed to enhance energy efficiency and ensure thermal comfort.
Sentry Hall will serve as the home of the Sentry School of Business and Economics.
A new Entrepreneurship Center will provide students with resources to support business development, including the UWSP Small Business Development Center. Additional centers will include the Center for Data Analytics, the Center for Sales Excellence, the Center for Business and Economic Insight, and the Ruth E. Salzmann Center for Women’s Leadership. The Anderson Classroom to Career Center, along with the College of Professional Studies administrative offices and the Dean’s suite, will also be relocated to Sentry Hall.
The building will incorporate advanced distance learning technology to connect courses with branch campuses and support place-bound students.

Sustainability Initiatives
Sentry Hall will stand as UWSP’s most sustainability‑driven building, setting a new benchmark for environmentally responsible campus development. Rather than opting for a full teardown, the project prioritizes a deep, strategic refurbishment of the existing structure. This approach dramatically reduces construction waste, preserves embodied carbon, and extends the life of materials already in place — a core principle of sustainable design.
To further reduce the building’s environmental footprint, Sentry Hall will incorporate a geothermal energy system to support both heating and cooling. By tapping into the stable temperatures below the earth’s surface, geothermal technology will significantly cut reliance on fossil fuels and lower long‑term operating costs.
The building will also feature photovoltaic (PV) solar, expanding UWSP’s renewable‑energy capacity and contributing clean, on‑site power generation. Together, these systems position Sentry Hall as a living example of the university’s commitment to climate‑conscious innovation and responsible stewardship.
