Dates and Deadlines
UWSP Financial Aid Application Deadline Date
Although we have no real deadline date as financial aid applications continue to be processed on a weekly basis throughout the year, all application requirements must be complete prior to the students last day of enrollment in the aid year. Typically, the deadline to apply for financial aid
is 1-2 weeks before the last day of your enrollment in the
academic year. Be aware, we must receive and be able to make a financial
aid offer (in most cases) before the last day of your enrollment in a given term.
When will my aid pay? Financial aid will begin disbursing approximately one week before your classes begin. It is anticipated aid will begin being applied to UWSP bills August 26 for fall and January 19 for spring.
October 1st - FAFSA is Available
File the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) annually on or after October 1 for the following school year.
November 15 - New Student Scholarship Application Priority Date
This is the priority date for the first-year student scholarship application.
December (mid) - Financial Aid Offers to New Incoming Students
We anticipate notifying new incoming students of their financial aid award via U.S. mail and email who have completed their FAFSA and any subsequent requirements.
January (mid) - Credit and Refund
Spring financial aid disburses. Should there be a refund, to receive refunds faster, students are encouraged to sign up for direct deposit through accesSPoint.
February 3, 2020 - Spring Financial Aid Census Date
Spring awards will be finalized based on your enrollment as of February 3 and a financial aid revision may be necessary.
May 1 - Priority Date for Filing the FAFSA
Applicants should submit their FAFSA data and complete all requirements on or before May 1 to be considered for all aid available. After this day, there is no guarantee that all federal and state aid that you may have qualified for will be available.
May (early) - Financial Aid Offers to Continuing Students
Financial Aid Award letters for the upcoming summer, fall, and spring are emailed to continuing students who have completed their FAFSA and any subsequent requirements.
July 6, 2020 - Summer Financial Aid Census Date
Summer awards will be finalized based on your enrollment as of July 6 and a financial aid revision may be necessary. Summer offers are based on a combined total of multiple sessions, therefore dropping or withdrawing from classes may have an impact on your aid eligibility, even after the census date.
August - Direct Loan Certification and School Bill
Direct loan certifications for Subsidized and Unsubsidized Direct Loan borrowers are transmitted. First-time loan borrowers will see their Master Promissory Note (MPN) complete on their TASK tile (if this requirement was completed). University billing statements for fall are sent from the university's Student Financial Services Office with the payment information.
