UW-Stevens Point is excited to welcome back family members to campus. We have prepared a series of activities for students and families to enjoy during their visit. Family Day is the same day as Homecoming 2023! Join us on Saturday, October 21, 2023. We can’t wait to see you here!

2023 FAMILY DAY EVENTS:

Each of UW-Stevens Point’s residence hall quads will be presenting unique programming. Experience YOUR student’s community! Check at your residence hall front desk for specific event locations.

Liquid Nitrogen Ice Cream

Outside first-floor entrance to CBB (southwest side)

Enjoy ice cream made with liquid nitrogen, which cools things to -320.4o F! While supplies last. This family friendly event will be hosted outside of the CBB (we will move indoors near the CBB café if weather is poor). You won’t want to miss this!

Make Your Own Lotion

First floor of CBB

How does lotion both moisturize and keep skin flexible? Lotion contains both oil and water, but oil and water do not mix! What do chemists do to make a lotion containing oil and water? Find out by making lotion on the first floor of the Chemistry Biology Building (CBB) during Family Day! Join us Saturday, October 21 between 10:00 AM and 1:00 PM. Celebrate National Chemistry Week with the American Chemical Society Central Wisconsin Local Section and UWSP Chemistry Club Students.

Family Day + Homecoming – Top Dawg Homecoming Hotspot

Goerke Park, Community Stadium

Join the UWSP Alumni Association at the Homecoming Hotspot party for a chance to win scholarships and prizes! A special Native American Invocation and Drum will take place prior to the event. Other features include Section 715 Axe Throwing, musician Brad Emanual, UWSP’s STEM Shuttle, several local food trucks including Stevie’s (UWSP’s new food truck!), the UWSP Pep Band, alumni reunions and more!

Eric Dittelman – Mindreader, Mentalist, Comedian

The Encore, Dreyfus University Center

This is a show you won’t want to miss! Catch mindreader, mentalist, stand-up improv comedian Eric Dittelman perform at The Encore in the Dreyfus University Center. Dittelman was a Semi-Finalist of Season 7 of “America’s Got Talent.”

Attendance is free for all UW-Stevens Point students with a valid PointCard student ID. Please note, there is an admission fee for non-UWSP students.

STARGAZING AT DEBOT FIELDS
8:30 p.m. Stargazing with portable telescopes, DeBot Field (please note: this event is weather permitting and cannot happen if there are clouds/rain – the event will be cancelled)

SCHMEECKLE RESERVE

10 a.m. – 2 p.m. Canoe and kayak Lake Joanis-Schmeeckle Reserve. South shore of Lake Joanis, park along Maria Drive. Paddle Lake Joanis for free with a canoe or kayak from Schmeeckle’s Outdoor Rentals. Paddles and life jackets will be supplied until 2 p.m.
10 a.m. – 4 p.m. Schmeeckle Reserve Visitor Center open, 2419 North Point Dr.
Free coffee, hot chocolate, and snacks. Family Day SALE: 20% off one clothing item of your choice (shirts, hoodies, hats, beanies, socks). For discount, tell staff you are with Family Day at the register. This offer is good until 4 p.m. on Saturday!

COMMUNITY EVENTS

7 a.m. – 2 p.m. Stevens Point Farmers Market, Mathias Mitchell Public Square, 913 Main Street
Enjoy walking through the Farmers Market in downtown Stevens Point. Located on Main Street, visitors can stop by to pick up fresh fruits and vegetables, homemade bake goods, flowers and wonderful food!
