Bio

Sarah Olson joined UW-Stevens Point in September 2016. She graduated with a bachelor's degree in early childhood education and elementary education with a minor in English education from the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point in August 2016. Sarah is the lead teacher at the UW-Stevens Point Gesell Institute. While working here, she has focused on implementing learning through play through dramatic play centers, sensory exploration and intentional play activities.

Prior to joining UWSP, Sarah served as a member and department manager for UWSP’s student organization Daisho Con since 2012. Daisho Con, a family-friendly anime and gaming convention originally started in Stevens Point, has grown to occupy the Kalahari’s convention center in Wisconsin Dells and has been known as one of the top growing conventions in the Midwest.

Sarah has also traveled with the UW-Stevens Point Guy Healy Japan, a culture-exchange consulting agency based in Nagasaki and Fukuoka, Japan. During the program, students from America serve as camp counselors and work with Japanese students, ranging from elementary age to college students, on a variety of English language drills and activities for nine weeks. Sarah hopes to work with this program again to learn more about and practice supporting English language learners as an early childhood educator at Gesell Institute.
