Cate is an associate professor of reading in the School of Education at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point. She worked in several school districts as a special educator, Title 1 Teacher and most recently, reading teacher and specialist in the Appleton Area School District. Since 2007, Cate has been an active reading faculty member and involved in various community, state and international organizations. She enjoys working with schools through the Central Wisconsin Reading Council (CWRC) and various local partnerships, specifically the PAWS Literacy Lab that was housed in St. Stanislaus Elementary School and more recently, the Boys & Girls Club. Cate enjoys traveling abroad with UWSP preservice teachers and faculty to Nicaragua, sharing sustainable literacy practices through teacher workshops in Managua, Nicaragua, and schools in remote mountain areas. These travel experiences are associated with the Wisconsin/Nicaragua Partners (W/N P) and Project Alianza, a women-led initiative to end education inequality in Latin America.
