Graduate Programs: Admission Process and Requirements
Please use the grid below to determine which documents are required for the program you are applying to. If you are applying to multiple programs you only need one electronic copy of each document.
*A teaching license is not required for admission to the Master of Science in Education or FCS programs.
Tips: Your letter of intent should detail your background qualifications, professional development, educational and career goals, and how this program fits into your future professional plans. These will be considered when determining admission.
Criminal Background Check: A criminal background check is required to apply to any licensing program in Wisconsin, per DPI code PI34.18(2)
- Request, print and upload a Wisconsin Department of Justice (Wisconsin DOJ) background check when you apply to a program: https://recordcheck.doj.wi.gov/ We will accept a previous check that is no older than 6 months from the date you turn in your application. There is a small fee associated with this. It may take a few days to get this. The online option is the quickest option. Download directions
Master's Admission Criteria: There is a 2.75 minimum GPA requirement for the Master's in Education program. Probationary admission will be considered. Your letter of intent and resume will be considered in admission. Once you receive notification of acceptance to the School of Education program, you are required to apply for graduate study at UW-Stevens Point by submitting a UWSP Graduate Student Application.
For Add-On License programs: Once you receive notification of acceptance to the School of Education add-on program, complete the UW System Application here: https://apply.wisconsin.edu/homepage as a non-degree seeking student -- there is no application fee or deposit required.
