Student Care and Support

You Matter. Point Cares. The Dean of Students staff continues to seamlessly support, advocate for, and make appropriate referrals to campus and community resources for students. We continue to visit directly with students about their concerns and consult with faculty and staff as we all assist students in receiving the support they need. Contact our Care Team via phone at 715-346-2611 (leave a message), email at dos@uwsp.edu, or submit information to office online. We are excited to talk, Zoom, or exchange email notes with our amazing students!

Food and Finances

The current COVID-19 situation has impacted finances and access to basic needs for many of our students. The Cupboard food pantry for Stevens Point students remains available (online orders only) and we have a list of other food resources for students and families in Stevens Point, Marshfield, and Wausau (call ahead to confirm availability). Our office also manages emergency grant funds through the UWSP CARES Act Emergency Grants and grants specifically for branch campus students (Marshfield/Wausu). If students are home and concerned about food or finances, call the statewide United Way hotline at 211, text your zip code to 898211, or visit 211 Wisconsin online. Students from states other than Wisconsin can Google information about their local United Way 211 service.

Legal Support Services

Student Legal Services, a service provided by the UWSP Student Governmnt Association (SGA), continues to be available for students. You might have questions about your lease, your rights when working with landlords or utility companies given COVID-19, or other legal concerns. SGA has waived the fee typically charged for use of this service. Contact Attorney Kitty Munck at kmunck@uwsp.edu to schedule a consultation.

Prevention Resources

The Center for Prevention is here to help!  We are dedicated to prevention of alcohol and other drug abuse & interpersonal violence. If you have any questions or concerns about your own alcohol and drug use behaviors we have compiled important alcohol/drug information and resources for students concerned about interpersonal violence. We are also happy to talk with you virtually or over the phone. Reach out to us at sduellma@uwsp.edu with questions or to set up a conversation.
