First Quarter Summary - As required by Section 18004(e) of the CARES Act, P.L. No. 116-136

April 4, 2022

1. On April 10th, 2020 Interim Chief Business Officer Christina Rickert signed the Recipient’s Certification and Agreement – Emergency Financial Aid Grants to Students under the Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act. UW-Stevens Point is committed to providing no less than 50% of the funds received under section 18004(a)(1) in the form of direct grants to students to assist with expenses such as food, housing, course materials, technology, health care and child care related to the disruption of campus operations due to the effects of the coronavirus pandemic. 

On February 18, 2021 UW-Stevens Point received supplemental Higher Education Emergency Relief (HEER) funding under the Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations (CRRSA) Act.  The dollar amount of funds allocated in the form of direct grants to students remained consistent to the first allocation.  The student grants made under CRRSAA can be used for any component of the student's cost of attendance or for emergency costs that arise due to coronavirus, such as tuition, food, housing, health care (including mental health care), or childcare, prioritizing students with exceptional need. 

On May 25, 2021, UW-Stevens Point received supplemental Higher Education Emergency Relief (HEERF) funding under the American Rescue Act (ARA), and received a revision on June 4, 2021.

2. On April 22nd, 2020 UW-Stevens Point received funding under section 18004(a)(1) in the amount of $3,156,396 for the express purpose of making Emergency Financial Aid Grants to students. 

On February 18, 2021, UW-Stevens Point received additional supplemental funding in the amount of $3,156,396 for the purpose of making additional Emergency Financial Aid Grants to students.

On May 25, 2021, UW-Stevens Point received additional supplemental funding in the amount of $9,035,562 for the purpose of making additional Emergency Financial Aid Grants to students.

3. As of April 4, 2022 UW-Stevens Point has disbursed $15,381,148 in Emergency Financial Aid Grants to students.

UW-Stevens Point has disbursed all HEERF I (CARES Act) funds totaling $3,156,396.

UW-Stevens Point has disbursed $3,156,396 of HEERF II (CRRSAA) funds.

UW-Stevens Point has disbursed $9,068,356 of HEERF III (ARA) funds.

4. As of April 4, 2022under Section 484 of Title IV of the Higher Education Act of 1965 (as amended), 7,448 students meet the eligibility requirements to receive funding under the CARES Act.

As of April 4, 2022under Section 484 of Title IV of the Higher Education Act of 1965 (as amended), 6,799 students meet the eligibility requirements to receive funding under CRRSAA.

As of April 4, 2022under Section 484 of Title IV of the Higher Education Act of 1965 (as amended), 8,214 students meet the eligibility requirements to receive funding under ARA/HEERF III.

5. As of April 4, 2022, 7,122 students have received Emergency Financial Aid Grants under the CARES Act.

As of April 4, 20226,780 students have received Emergency Financial Aid Grants under CRRSAA.

As of April 4, 2022, 7,821 students have received Emergency Financial Aid grants under ARA/HEERF III.

6. A portion of Emergency Financial Aid Grant awards were pre-determined amounts between $150 and $900, distributed to all eligible students in order to assist with personal expenses (i.e., technology, food, housing, educational materials) as a result of the disruption of campus operations due to COVID-19. 

To request an individual Emergency Grant, students can also: 

  a. Complete a brief application form stating that they experienced financial expenses as a result of the disruption of campus operationsidentifying the category of allowable cost incurred and including appropriate documentation; initial individual applications are reviewed by the Office of the Dean of Students with Title IV eligibility determined by the Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships;

  b. Be admitted to the University as a degree-seeking student for Spring Semester 2020; and

  c. Have been enrolled in at least 1 credit hour of instruction on or after March 11, 2020.
