Cynthia Goosby

Bio

Cynthia Goosby holds a Masters degree in Clarinet Performance from Bowling Green State University and Bachelors degrees in Clarinet Performance and German from Ball State University. She is a recurrent guest lecturer at Lawrence University, an adjunct professor of music at Nicolet College in Rhinelander, and teaches clarinet and saxophone at the Wausau Conservatory of Music. She also serves as the associate editor for the International Clarinet Association’s online professional journal, The Clarinet Online.
Goosby’s passion for music has taken her all over the world, including solo and festival performances around the U.S., Canada, Italy, and Ireland. Additionally, she has toured nationally, performed, and recorded with funk-punk, indie pop, and experimental rock groups based in the Midwest and Austin, Texas, as well as with her clarinet/percussion and sketch comedy duo Just Duet. While living in Austin, she was a frequent performer and workshop leader at Austin’s New Media Art and Sound Summit, was a member of the long-standing improvisatory ensemble Mongoose, and taught a private studio of sixty students across ten
public school campuses. Now, based in northern Wisconsin, many of Goosby’s recent projects focus on composing, arranging, and recording. In the summer of 2025, she performed a sampling of original works from her albums The Longest Night (2023) and Ulyssa (2024) at the ICA’s annual ClarinetFest in Fort Worth, Texas.
In her free time, she enjoys gardening and playing the piano badly, but with great enthusiasm.
