DeBot Dining Center Renovation Project

What you need to know:

  • This renovation will close the whole DeBot Dining Center including Lower DeBot and Upper DeBot

  • The NEW DeBot Dining Center will reopen in Fall 2019

Why is it happening?

The DeBot Dining Center was built in 1968 with minimal renovation over the past several years. Talk of this renovation process began back in Fall 2012 after discussions with UWSP Facilities regarding the HVAC system. Our HVAC system includes three original air handlers and the current model does not have the capacity needed with today's equipment. 

The purpose of the DeBot Dining Center HVAC and Interior Renovation project will address major issues including:
  • Major deferred maintenance in HVAC and air supply—replacement of HVAC equipment for air supply distribution and food service exhaust systems.
  • Installation of a fire sprinkler system throughout the building
  • Elevator assessments—freight elevator replaced and extended to penthouses
  • Exterior and interior door, frame and hardware assessments—main entrance vestibule and secondary entrances will be replaced
  • Access to mechanical penthouses—appropriate stairwell
  • Energy consumption with exterior window assessment
  • Programmatic space optimization

What will the NEW DeBot Dining Center offer?

NEW Lower DeBot Features


Lower DeBot will feature a combined kitchen for the C-store and Bakery, redesigned locker rooms for staff, centralized storage for the C-store, increased meeting room space for students, and the relocation of the DSC Student Employment Office from DUC 241 given the majority of DSC student employees work at DeBot.

New and Improved Dining Experience:
  • Groceries
  • Deli/Soup
  • Burrito station
  • Grill station
  • Room 073 will be enhanced and become two separate meeting rooms with a moveable wall to create one large meeting room

NEW Upper DeBot Features 


Upper DeBot will feature a more open concept kitchen and dining area allowing culinary staff to be more visible and engage with the customers while preparing customized culinary experiences.  There will be three large sky-lights bringing in natural light where the current penthouses are located.

New and Improved Dining Experience:
  • Fruit/Yogurt, Soup, Deli bar, Salad bar will be in the center of the dining area
  • Pizza and Pasta station
  • Allergen Friendly station
  • International station
  • Home Cooking station
  • Grill station
  • Desserts & Ice Cream
  • Better designed dish room operation
