Academic Misconduct Process: A Student Guide
Academic integrity is a core value of UW-Stevens Point. Our campus community is committed to fostering a fair, just, and honest learning environment. As a student, upholding personal honesty and respecting others’ intellectual property is essential. Academic dishonesty undermines the university’s integrity, so it’s important to only claim your own work and properly credit others.
Here is a guide for what to expect if you are ever accused of academic misconduct. You will have the opportunity to present your side, provide evidence, and explain any misunderstandings.
Behavioral Misconduct Process: Policies and Procedures
Similiar to issues about academic misconduct, the non-academic or behavioral misconduct process addresses concerns such as alleged violations of housing and residential living polices, alcohol and drug policy violations, hazing, and all allegations of interpersonal violence (sexual assault, dating violence, etc.).
If you are accused of violating a housing or other universtiy policy, remember that our goal is to work with you to understand what happened, learn if any mistakes were made, and move forward from there.
Alcohol and Other Drugs
UW-Stevens Point is dedicated to helping students understand how the issue of substance use affects academic, social, emotional, and physical wellbeing.
Students who are found responsible for breaches of University alcohol and drug policies are often required to complete an educational sanctions, often in the form of an in-person or online course. Repeated decisions to violate University policies can result in additional and more serious sanctions.
Amazing Without Hazing!
The University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point prohibits hazing by individuals or groups in any form both on and off campus. Hazing does not contribute to the positive development and welfare of any individual or group and is antithetical to the mission of the institution.
Like bullying, the problem of hazing has existed for many decades, yet research about the nature and extent of hazing and its prevention is in nascent stages of development. We are working to promote inclusive school, campus, and organizational climates where healthy leadership, well-being, and belonging are cultivated and sustained.
