CONSULTATION AND EDUCATION

CONSULTATION

Each year, faculty, staff and students encounter individuals who are concerning to them. Often, these individuals are visibly experiencing a stressful set of personal circumstances, acting disruptively, or experiencing an uncharacterisitc drop in their academic performance or social participation.

A Counseling Center provider will gladly visit with you about the concerns and how you might respond to be supportive. To consult with a professional about a concerning situation, contact the office at 715-346-3553.

EDUCATION AND PREVENTION

The Counseling Center offers education and prevention programs across campus throughout the year. From skills workshops, to formal trainings, to casual lectures on psychology topics, the UWSP Counseling Cneter is eager to help you better understand mental health and wellness.

By request, the Counseling Center can provide a researched and detailed program on an issue of concern for you or your organization, and deliver it at a time that is convenient for you.

Programs can be conducted in-person or virutally, and we will work with you to determine the method that promotes the best turnout and learning outcomes. Contact us to discuss your idea!

CRISIS MANAGEMENT

The Counseling Center offers crisis management training to students and faculty throughout the year and by request. The program is designed to teach non-experts how to identify and properly respond to mental health needs, including emergency situations. Distressed students often seek out allies and assistance from those with whom they feel most comfortable. We aim to help everyone on campus be better points of first contact, and better able to connect students to helpful resources that already exist on and off-campus. Call us if you are interested in scheduling this training for your team or joining a scheduled event.
