Cryptids and Hybrids: Find Your Inner Beastie: <\/h3>\n\n\n\n

There is a great tradition in the human psyche of hybrid creatures, from the Griffin to the Phoenix. These often represent the many parts of the psyche, and the blending of the animal and human worlds. Let’s explore the history of these and write about, and make, our own hybrids that represent the many parts of who we are and how we interact with the world around us!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u200bThe Ancient, Wild Art of Deep Listening:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

If you\u2019ve ever wondered how birds warn each other in different \u201cdialects,\u201d or how trees send nutrients to their friends through underground fungal networks, this camp is your chance to learn the world\u2019s hidden language and use it to tune into the signals most people rush right past. We\u2019ll explore Stevens Point\u2019s Schmeeckle Reserve with techniques inspired by Buddhism\u2019s mind\u2011calming focus and technologist\u2011artist James Bridle\u2019s ideas about learning from the natural world and applying those lessons to your own life. Through art, poetry, science, and non\u2011linear ways of paying attention, you\u2019ll discover how deep listening helps you connect with people, plants, and animals in ways that feel both energizing and grounding. These skills will guide how you read situations, trust your instincts, and communicate with clarity and creativity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This camp pairs naturally with New Techniques for Old\u2011School Connections<\/em>, but it also stands completely on its own. It\u2019s perfect if you\u2019re heading into high school, college, or any new environment and want to feel more grounded, read situations more easily, and understand yourself well enough to make choices that actually fit who you are. Indoors and outdoors, in small groups and solo moments, you\u2019ll explore, reflect, experiment, and build a listening journal full of insights you\u2019ll carry long after the week ends.\u200b<\/p>\n\n\n\n

New Techniques for Old\u2011School Connections<\/strong>:\u200b<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

If you\u2019ve ever wished you were better at starting conversations, making friends, or handling awkward moments without spiraling, this camp is for you. You\u2019ll try out Amy Poehler’s favorite improv lessons, use Thich Nhat Hanh’s Buddhist practices to tune in to yourself and discover your own communication strengths, and learn how to connect with people in ways that feel natural, confident, and genuinely you. We\u2019ll dig into how to navigate conflict and maintain boundaries without blowing things up, and how to use tech in smarter, more creative ways that actually support the kind of world you want to help build while leaving plenty of space for IRL connection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This camp pairs well with The Ancient, Wild Art of Deep Listening<\/em>, but it also works great as a stand\u2011alone experience. Introverts and extroverts alike will find a lot to love here, and it\u2019s especially helpful if you\u2019re ready to stretch yourself\u2014whether that means starting at a new school, joining a club you\u2019ve always been curious about, running for student council, auditioning for something, or just wanting to tell your own story instead of reacting to whatever happens. Indoors and outdoors, in small groups and all together, you\u2019ll walk, talk, laugh, experiment, and build a communication journal full of techniques you\u2019ll take with you long after the week ends.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
