Doug Edwards grew up in a small town in Northwest Indiana, just outside of Chicago. After graduating from Purdue University, his career implementing banking software led him, his wife, and their three children to several locations across the country, ultimately bringing them to the New York City area in 2000. At the time of the September 11 attacks, Doug’s office was located in the North Tower of the World Trade Center; fortunately, he was traveling for his company that day. Today, he is retired in North Carolina and is a dedicated 9/11 volunteer who travels to share his experiences and educate others about the events and lasting impact of that day—always looking toward the future while never forgetting our past.

This program is made possible through the Tunnel to Towers Foundation, an organization founded in honor of FDNY firefighter Stephen Siller, who gave his life while responding to the September 11 attacks. Today, Tunnel to Towers honors the sacrifice of first responders, supports America’s heroes and their families, and works to ensure that the events and lessons of September 11 are never forgotten.
