​Description This course will introduce students to the history of American Indians in Wisconsin and the western Great Lakes region. In one class meeting, readings, web-based discussion, and writing assignments, students will explore topics such as the origins of Wisconsin Indians, early contacts with Europeans, the fur trade and other economic adaptations, relations with the United States, treaty rights, and the modern self-determination movement. Computer and internet access required.
