Conference Highlights

The 2021 virtual conference will be a 1.5 day event with keynote speakers on both days. The conference will provide education information and updates for commercial lenders through presentations from SBA, SBDC, RMA, Regulatory Agencies, and more! 

A variety of sessions will be available for new and experienced lenders and those who work with SBA loans. The conference will feature a virtual exhibit hall for attendees to interact with sponsors and exhibitors.

Grant Pauly, Founder and Brewmaster
3 Sheeps Brewing Company

Grant Pauly is the founder & brewmaster at 3 Sheeps Brewing, a craft brewery located in Sheboygan, WI. He has trouble remembering life before brewing, but he has been told that he ran a precast concrete facility for several years after graduating from Northwestern University. Currently, he is seeking a new hobby as he has yet to find one to replace homebrewing. Any recommendations welcome.

The story of 3 Sheeps Brewing from inception to today has been one of rapid grow, growing pains, and incredible support from our community and partners. Thomas Walstrum, Senior Business Economist
Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago

Thomas Walstrum is an economist in the economic research department at the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago. His chief responsibilities include the Seventh District's contribution to the Beige Book, the release for the Chicago Fed's Survey of Business Conditions and briefings for the Chicago Fed president on Seventh District economic conditions. He also is a contributing author to the Bank's Midwest Economy blog.

Walstrum holds a B.A. in economics from Wheaton College, Illinois, and a Ph.D. in economics from the University of Illinois at Chicago, with concentrations in labor and urban and regional economics.

This presentation will help lending professionals understand the issues that BIPOC businesses face when trying to secure financing from traditional (bank) and non-traditional (CDFI and Revolving Loan Fund) sources. This seminar will highlight WHAT technical assistance is, the value of technical assistance and examples of successful technical assistance offerings that prepared BIPOC businesses to access capital.

Cancellation Policy


Registration cancellations or substitution requests must be made in writing to uwspce-bus@uwsp.edu. Full refunds will be given if notified by April 30, 2021. Cancellations made between May 1 – May 12, 2021 will incur a $25 cancellation fee. No refunds after May 12, 2021. No refunds for no-shows.
