Keynote Speaker

Jared Schroeder

Wisconsin Foresty Center

UWSP College of Natural Resources

Jared is a 14-year veteran of the public school system where he taught high school biology in a small rural Central Wisconsin school. During his tenure there, he was also a passionate forensics coach, taking students to state and national competitions and promoting dramatic performance, public speaking, and debate. He holds bachelor's degrees in Wildlife Management and Biology, and a Masters of Education all from the University of Wisconsin – Stevens Point. He now works for the Wisconsin Forestry Center at UWSP where he is developing an immersive applied curriculum for secondary school settings that aims to aid in workforce development in forestry.

Jared has always had a sense of awe when it came to the environment. Growing up on a farm in Wisconsin he saw and experienced the necessity for sustainable development. As an educator he saw the power that curriculum can have on shaping the minds of students. While developing a curriculum that will be used by multiple schools in the Wisconsin, he saw the necessity to build in the concept of sustainability, which motivated him to start a Doctorate in Educational Sustainability in 2023.
