Summer Dance Intensive will be held Sunday, July 21, through Friday, July 26, 2024, with an informal performance taking place on Fri​day, July 26. Campers will spend the majority of their time in the Noel Fine Arts Center under the direction of UW-Stevens Point Dance Faculty. Additional camp information will be sent out two to three weeks prior to the start of camp.

High school and middle school students (ages 13 and up) will participate in a unique dance experience that will test their limits, improve their skills, and show their talent. Classes will be held in the beautiful Noel Fine Arts Center dance studios. Students will explore and hone new techniques and rehearse for a performance to held Friday, July 26.

Registration Fee: 

Base price (for Commu​ters - no meals): $375
  • add on $125 to include lunches for commuters
Residental Campers: 
  • add on $275 to base price to include lodging and all ​meals
Optional Add On Fees:
  • request for Single Dorm/No Roommate: $95
  • parking permit for Commuters: $30
Minimal deposit required at time of registration: $100

You must be able to provide the campers health history, current medications (if any), immunizations, insurance, and health care providers at the time of registration​.​

Scholarship:​

If you are expe​cting a scholarship through your school or your community, please use the "Scholarship Applicant" registration option in Camp Docs. Scholarship applicants need only pay a $10 non-refundable deposit at time of registration. Be prepared to provide the organization name that is granting you a scholarship, a contac​t name and email from that organization, and the amount you are expecting to receive in scholarship funds.​​​

Instructor Bios

Michael Estanich, Professor of Dance

Michael Estanich is a Professor of Dance and Chair of the Department of Theatre and Dance at UW-Stevens Point. He teaches all levels modern dance, composition, movement analysis, and repertory. He earned his MFA from The Ohio State University and his BFA from Denison University. Michael’s creative work asserts value in a multidisciplinary approach, relying on movement, voice, sculpture, and dramaturgy to create intimate works of human folly. He formed RE|dance group (redancegroup.org) in 2009 with Chicago artist Lucy Vurusic Riner as a means to explore long distance collaboration. RE|dance group has presented work regionally, nationally, and internationally. Michael and Lucy have presented their research on the collaborative creative process at various conferences hosted by the National Dance Educator's Organization. He is the resident choreographer and dance chair at Trollwood Performing Arts School in Moorhead, MN and serves on the Executive Board of the American College Dance Association (ACDA) as Vice President for Policy and Procedure.

Sarah Olson, Assistant Professor of Dance

Sarah OlsonSarah Olson is an Assistant Professor of Dance at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point, where she teaches all levels of ballet, dance pedagogy, and dance history.  She holds an MFA in Dance and a Graduate Certificate in Gender, Women’s, and Sexuality Studies from the University of Iowa and a BFA in Dance Performance, magna cum laude, from Butler University.  Prior to coming to UWSP, Sarah enjoyed a thirteen-year performance career, working with ballet and contemporary companies including among others the Lyric Opera of Chicago, Chicago Repertory Ballet, Inaside Chicago Dance, and Cleveland Contemporary Dance Theatre.  Her choreography has been commissioned by Chicago-based companies such as Nomi Dance Company, Project606 Dance, and RASA Dance Chicago as well as presented at festivals including Harvest Chicago Contemporary Dance Festival, Dance Chicago, and the Choreographer’s Showcase at the College of DuPage.  As an educator, Sarah has taught for the University of Iowa, Hubbard Street Dance Chicago, Joffrey Academy of Dance, West Virginia Governor’s School for the Arts, and Lou Conte Dance Studio.

Frequently Asked Questions

What should I wear?

Students should wear dance attire and dress in layers. Tights and leotard are recommended for ballet class. For other technique classes and creative process, any form fitting clothes encouraging movement is acceptable. Example: yoga pants, leggings, bike shorts, joggers, sweatpants, tank tops, sports tops or long sleeve shirts.

What should I bring?

Water bottle, notebook/journal for taking notes in class and at rehearsal, and a light snac​​​k for breaks.

Ballet slippers, Jazz shoes, hip hop shoes, socks you like to dance in. If you would like, any foot spray or ice packs that you typically need.

Cancellation Policy 


You may cancel up until June 30, 2022, and be charged only the non-refundable deposit fee of $50. Cancellations received after June 30, 2022, will not be refunded. No refunds will be given for a student who leaves camp early for any reason. Send written requests to uwspceweb@uwsp.edu

Summer Dance Intensive reserves the right to send home, without refund, any camper who fails to behave in an appropriate manner or breaks any local/state/federal laws or camp regulations.
