The Innovative Leader - $249/workshop | $30 for current UWSP students

Friday, February 16, 2018 - 9 a.m.-4 p.m.

Dreyfus University Center, Legacy Room

This workshop offered in partnership with the UW Leadership Development Program.

Innovation is a word we hear often, but what does it really mean to be an Innovative Leader? Is it possible to be innovative in environments that have historically embraced stability and order over risk, change, and uncertainty? This course will encourage you to build a new mindset for approaching challenges in your organizations. Learn to identify possibilities and create the conditions in your work teams that make innovation a way of being versus a one-time initiative. During this interactive session, we will explore:

  • What it means to be an Innovative Leader - and ways to stretch your skills and capacity in this area
  • Innovation as a way of being versus an initiative or a program
  • Innovative approaches to problem-solving
  • Intrapreneurship: bringing an entrepreneurial mindset and perspective to your team and organization
  • Tools, technologies and processes that support innovative leadership
  • The challenges with "innovation" and how to navigate them

Register for all six workshops and pay $1245 - a savings of $249!

About the instructor - Sarah Young

YoungSarah.jpgHi, I'm Sarah, and I'm grateful to work with big thinkers to increase their positive impact in the world. I consider myself part former corporate executive who reads Harvard Business Review and part barefoot nature lover. I bring all of these parts of myself to my work, and I fiercely but lovingly push my clients to do the same. I do this through highly experiential workshops, courses, and events; through high-impact coaching; and through writing, speaking, and online programs.

Prior to launching Zing Collaborative, I spent 8 years in the corporate world leading people, projects, and teams (more info on all of that below). It was during this time that I became obsessed with the possibilities we create when we fully claim all the different parts of ourselves - at work, at home, and out in the world. I blend corporate experience, research, mindfulness, leadership, coaching, and experiential learning with the goal of empowering organizations, teams, and individuals to get great results in a way that feels inspired and alive. My clients range from top universities to high-tech startups to construction crews to financial institutions to healthcare organizations. Regardless of the industry, they share one thing in common: they are serious about increasing their positive impact and tapping into their full humanity to do so. When I'm not engaged in meaningful conversations with clients and members of my tribe, I'm usually out exploring and adventuring, hanging out in nature, or hanging out with my favorite two-legged and four-legged companions.
