About the Conference
Wisconsin has a rich history of manufacturing and industrial operations located in urban and rural communities around the state. Many of these facilities are still going strong. Others need to be revitalized and re-purposed.
The potential for environmental contamination on properties with a history of industrial or certain kinds of commercial use can be an obstacle to reuse. These types of properties are called brownfields.
Please join the DNR's Remediation and Redevelopment program and special guests who have years of practical experience investigating, cleaning up and redeveloping brownfield properties as they help explain the tools and techniques to transform your community's brownfields from cleanup to groundbreaking.
Studies show that the return on investment in brownfields redevelopment can be substantial. Are you ready to get started?
Some Brownfields Conference takeaways will include:
- How to get DNR assistance to successfully address brownfields.
- How to hire and work with environmental consultants.
- Who in other communities you can contact for advice, and how these people approach brownfields.
- How to work with developers to help get a site cleaned up and redeveloped.
- The types of state and federal financial assistance that is available to your community.
Expect to go home with a fuller understanding of how to overcome obstacles and maximize opportunities associated with brownfield reuse.
