The Curriculum Committee has the authority to recommend to the Common Council policies pertaining to the undergraduate curriculum. The Curriculum Committee recommends new and revised majors, minors, new and unique course sequences, certification programs, changes in title of academic disciplines and of curricular programs. It reports these matters to the Common Council Senate for review (i.e., "for information") and for action at the request of any academic staff or faculty member of the Common Council.
Teacher Education Subcommittee is a subcommittee of the Curriculum Committee. The Teacher Education Subcommittee reviews curriculum and curricular policy matters which relate to professional education, in order to certify that such proposals are consistent with Wisconsin standards for certification. The Teacher Education Subcommittee reports its recommendations to the Curriculum Committee.
The process for curricular proposals to Curriculum Committee is as follows:
Prior to being submitted to Curriculum Committee, all proposals should be completed and approved appropriately (i.e., department and dean approvals).
The proposal should be forwarded as an electronic MS Word document to the Curriculum Committee chair.
The Curriculum Committee chair sets the agenda for meetings and will notify departments when the proposal is to be discussed. The 2019-2020 Curriculum Committee chair is Susan Turgeson (Curriculum.Committee@uwsp.edu).
Please note, if an electronic signature is used, only the Word document with the electronic approval signature need be submitted. If the signature is handwritten,
in addition to the Word document, a PDF document showing the approval signature is also required.
When revising majors, minors, courses, or competencies, please make sure to use the most current catalog text, available at: http://catalog.uwsp.edu/. Strike out should be used for deleted text and underscore for new text of revisions. Please note, when copying/pasting catalog text, click on "print-friendly page" in the upper right corner, copy desired text from the print-friendly page, and paste "text only" to remove all Acalog formatting.
When revising the Constitution of the Common Council or University Handbook, please make sure to use the current text. As with catalog revisions,
