Skater Impact on Shot Locations
It is well-known that in hockey, individual skaters have minimal impact on on-ice save percentage. We examine if the same can be said about shot locations. Attendees will learn to carefully isolate which on-ice outcomes are repeatable for individual skaters, develop a formalism for discussing spatial correlations in a hockey context, and establish granularity of causality for individual skaters and various different shot types.
