Factors Associated with Performance in the Annual National
Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics
(NACDA) Learfield Director's Cup
This study was comprised of data tracking NCAA Division I athletics programs’ performance in the Learfield Director's Cup in conjunction with multiple institutional factors. These factors included but were not limited to: conference affiliation, overall athletic aid (both men’s and women’s), overall athletic expenses per institution, number of sports sponsored (both men’s and women’s), number of student-athletes (both men’s and women’s) and institutional enrollments. Data collected and analyzed is for the four-year period of 2008-2012. Several significant correlations and relationships exist between individual factors and Learfield Director’s Cup performance. A follow-up study for the years 2013-2017 is underway.
