Using Home Advantage to Improve

the Quality of the Oracle Method

The Oracle is a customizable network ranking method that has shown good predictive results in the NFL. In the latest improvement to the Oracle we will discuss how to use home advantage and improve and quantify the quality of predictions. Attendees will learn to represent and solve a problem in a framework involving mathematics, statistics, computation or symbolic logic; describe the significance and limitations of the quantitative approach; and communicate results.

Dr. E. Cabral Balreira is an associate professor of mathematics at Trinity University. After receiving his Ph.D. from the University of Notre Dame in differential topology and continued research in discrete dynamics, his passion for sports led him to develop the Oracle method for sports predictions.
