The Women's and Gender Studies Minor is a multidisciplinary minor facilitated by the Department of English.  It is it's own program and only housed with the Department of English becuase the English Department Chair currently coordinates the program.

With the pursuit and vision of equality, justice and freedom for all women, men and gender neutral individuals, the Women's and Gender Studies minor aims to teach the following goals:

  • To learn about women’s contributions in all arenas of society and culture, and to counter the effects of gender bias in all fields of knowledge.
  • To critically study the forms and effects of gender bias and discrimination in human societies, and to gain an understanding of the particular issues and challenges facing women in the past and present.
  • To prepare women and men to serve as engaged global citizens, committed to preserving and furthering the ideal of equality, freedom, and justice for all.

The Women’s and Gender Studies Minor satisfies the Interdisciplinary Studies GEP requirement.
