ABC: alpha beta collective

with Diana Hoover

We use the alphabet when we speak, text, email, etc. Have you ever thought about the shapes and different ways to form individual letters? In this class experience, we'll go over basic letterform and type terminology in preparation to get creative with new designs for the letters of the alphabet. Hands-on you will work with both natural and man-made materials, drawing, shaping and constructing numerous options. Through the design process, we'll find your strongest options to refine. We will document each camper's creative work with photography to get final printed pieces and build a digital collective slideshow.

Mixed Media Collage

with Susan Morrison

Mixed media is an artwork in which more than one medium is used. Collage is a technique where various two dimensional elements, such as cut and torn paper, are combined with drawing and painting onto paper. In this class, students will create a dynamic, colorful image from a still life. Artists referenced will be Henri Matisse and Romare Bearden.
