Pewaukee School Energy Workshop 2018

Build My Workshop

The Wisconsin Center for Environmental Education is here to work with you to integrate environmental education into your curriculum and increase the sustainability of your school community. We offer workshops by request, which can be tailored to your school’s needs. We can build your professional development experience around classroom- or field-based training, model teaching or curriculum planning to allow your teachers to integrate forestry, energy, sustainability and general environmental education into existing curricula.

Possible Ideas Include:

School Forest / School Grounds
Learn how to maximize your school forest as a teaching and learning tool and enhance your site or outdoor classroom.

School building
Learn how to use your school building as an engaging tool for teaching about the real-world concepts of energy, renewable energy and energy efficiency.

Solar School Foundational Planning
Would you like to add a solar photovoltaic (PV) array to your school but just aren’t sure where to get started? Request a custom capacity-building workshop for teachers and administrators. During this workshop KEEP staff will help you set up a workplan, identify key stakeholders in your school district, and help you find funding mechanisms that can help your school “go solar”.

Forest Health and the Energy Connection
Join LEAF and KEEP to explore the intersection between energy conservation and forest health. We will demonstrate how to conduct tree inventories on your school grounds and then apply the ecosystem benefits derived to evaluate your school building’s energy management opportunities. Utilize online civic science tools, and receive training using professional forestry and energy tools available for loan to your school. Include time for school site assessment and lesson planning, with a variety of ready-to-use activities and tools to integrate relevant lessons right away.

Place-based learning
Learn how to use your building and surrounding community as an extension of your classroom. An emphasis will be on unique features at your specific site to make learning relevant.
