The Economics of Water

What is a Lake Worth?

It is a difficult task to tie a monetary value to a body of water or a beautiful view. However, there is a small, but growing body of work that tries to make that connection. If you are interested in looking at some of the studies that have linked economics with water, we invite you to dive deeper into this site (over 80 studies).
Within this world of water and economics, you will find research that looks at…
  • Water quality
  • Water recreation
  • Wetland values
  • Property values
  • And much, much more!
Each study will be accompanied by a brief overview or abstract and a link to the complete paper.
We have sorted the papers by subject area to make your search a little bit easier. Also, the papers are labeled as introductory, intermediate, or advanced based on whether they were written for economists or for the general public.
