The Energy Education: Concepts and Practices training can be accessed in two ways:

1. Register for the Full Training:

Click Full Training (Certificate). Once you register you will be sent a link to complete the course online in Canvas. After you complete the training, you will receive a Certificate of Participation which meets the Wisconsin DPI Environmental Education Stipulation

2. Public Training:

Click Public Training (No Certificate). This training, which includes the same core information as the Full Training, is free and available to the public. You will NOT receive a Certificate of Participation. 


About this training

Energy Education: Concepts and Practices is an online module developed by KEEP – Wisconsin’s K-12 Energy Education Program. We look forward to helping you learn more about the flow of energy through your life.

Goal: As a result of participating in this training, participants will gain fundamental knowledge about energy and appreciate the nature of energy in their everyday lives.

The training addresses:

  • Energy concepts relating to energy definitions
  • Natural laws of energy
  • Energy in living and nonliving systems, and their relationships to understanding and evaluating environmental issues

Activities include:

  • Short energy readings
  • Exploration of KEEP lessons
  • Connections to classroom activities
  • Home activities such as reading utility bills and calculating the wattages of various home appliances.
  • Some fun surprises!

Training Details

  • The training should take approximately 7 hours to complete.
  • The training self-paced, but all modules must be complete within 30 days of registering.

Completion Requirements

  • Four course modules
  • Four discussion posts
  • Three short assignments
  • One survey

Once you complete the training, you will receive a certificate of completion with credentialing for the Wisconsin DPI Environmental Education Stipulation and 7 hours of continuing education and professional development.
