The Rainbow Group is the final step at the HRG-UCLCC before the children begin kindergarten. School preparations are stressed in a developmentally appropriate environment. Many hands-on learning activities are provided in the child-centered classroom; field trips are frequent. Stevens Point Public Schools 4-K Program is available daily from 9:00 -11:40.

The curriculum for the Rainbow Group reflects the teaching practices of a developmental curriculum. The program uses teaching strategies to help develop the whole child, focusing on each child's development in the following areas: health and physical, social and emotional, language and communication, approaches to learning, and cognition and general knowledge. Activities include a variety of developmentally appropriate activities and materials which are process, not product oriented. Reading, movement, art projects, daily chores, dramatic play, block building, and quiet play are just some of the activities incorporated into a well-rounded early learning curriculum.

The activities and materials in Rainbow Room promote self-regulation in a safe environment. The daily plans are inspired by the Reggio Emilia Approach, reflecting the world around us and the interests of the students.
